The band also incarnated for years as Vas Deferens performing as the visionary art/rock/pop/blues/punk band with the music of CJ Allen with lyrics and vocal stylings by the late and very great Martin “Nellie” Nelson who passed away - way, way before his time - of ALS.

- Stash and Head had worked together in the incredible Splendaids in the 70’s. The band featured the renown Uncle Griff now famously of EBay. It was a sloppy blend of comedy, blues, originals, rock, silly string, and chicks singing (they married the chicks, too). They played a million now defunct clubs such as Jacks, and the Oxford Ale House, Brandy's.
- Following the implosion of that band, Stash auditioned for Sonny (then known as Larry) in 1977 for the Tom Rush Band. They toured the country over and over. Because several guitar players were either retarded or insane, they called up their trusty pal Head West (a/k/a Peter) and went back on the road -
always maintaining a clean and reverent lifestyle because they were married.
- Stash eventually left the Tom Rush Band having convinced by Robin Lane that he could be a punk rock musician and that, despite appearances, he wasn’t really a plaid shirt wearing folk-rock drummer.
- That group was signed to Warner Brothers Records as Robin Lane and the Chartbusters. Head West headed off to work with Willie Nile and his own band Heidi and the Secret Admirers
- Years later, Stash returned shell shocked from the Robin Lane days and was soon called by The Young Rationals where he met Rainbow Gates. Despite his propensity for being impish, stoned and unruly, Stash / Tim was hired.
- The Young Rationals became one of the greatest unsigned pop bands in Boston’s varied musical history.
- Disgruntled with a lack of recognition and with babies on the horizon, Stash devised a name “ The Band That Time Forgot ” and a concept - the band would play the greatest 60’s songs that nobody else would ever play. But a name with no band is no band.
- Stash called his pal Head West whose career he had been trying to ruin since 1972.
- There was only one truly great keyboard/guitar playing/singer to call - Sonny California.
- After a few false starts they managed to convince Rainbow (then Richard) that such a band might have fun, make money, start a commune, have dozens of children, and eat many mushrooms. Rainbow being one the nicest guys in the world (everybody says so - though he can be very bad, too) said OK.
- They soon discovered the greatest Go Go dancer ever known to mankind
